About us
In the early 1960s, Bangladeshis settled in the industrial town of Ipswich and gained employment in manual work. The entrepreneurial spirit that drove these aspiring young members of the commonwealth to leave their motherland for a better future could not be contained for long. Within a few years, they established themselves as purveyors of 'Indian' cuisine. After all, Bangladesh was a new country little known to the average Brit and when you fancied a "Ruby" you went to your local Indian. Like other Bangladeshi communities across the UK, the chefs fine-tuned the flavours of home to give locals that same warmth and joy while transforming the fabric of the British culinary landscape. Anyone who has met a Bangladeshi will recognise them for their unparalleled hospitality towards guests and company.
